Friday Favorites at The Farmhouse
Welcome to my bi-weekly round-up of posts from the blog and from around the web! This post contains affilate links.
Five Things Friday
- Avocado toast…what are your thoughts? Have you ever tried it? My two teenage daughters love it and have converted me! Just toast some good whole grain bread, spread butter liberally, and then spread mashed avocado over the top. DELICIOUS!!! Bonus, add scrambled egg to the top…extra delicious!
- This week on the blog I shared how to make your own cross-back apron and the three best ways to eat turnips!
3. I just bought a Honeycrisp apple tree and a bing cherry tree to plant this weekend! I sure hope they thrive! Our soil is so rocky, planting trees is quite a chore! I also bought two elderberry bushes! We make our own elderberry syrup, I would love to make it from our own elderberries!
4. Antique Farmhouse just launched the cutest event. Bee Sweet Honey and For the Love of Flowers. There are so many cute items and that beautiful yellow color that I love!
5. For the month of March I read a Proverb a day, I truly enjoyed it, but Proverbs is so rich that you really need more than a day for each one! This was one of my very favorites: He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. Proverbs 28:26. I realize this is completely contrary to the message we hear in the world. The world says “trust your heart”, however, the Bible warns about trusting your heart in multiple places. Our “heart” can be deceived and easily swayed this way and that. We can be moved emotionally. That is why we need to build our lives on truth. We get the truth from the word of God and through prayer. Ask for wisdom, God is always faithful to give it liberally!

This blog is one of my all-time favorites, she had the most amazing imagination and vision for cast-off pieces. Wait until you see how she used an empire dresser for three different projects! That link is part three, make sure you read parts one and two!

Thanks so much for including our Joy List in your post, Jennifer, I really appreciate it. We’ve all been through a lot over the past year and choosing joy is not always easy. But it’s definitely become as necessary to our daily lives as kindness and grace. Loved your message about standing on the truth instead of trusting your heart too. It’s such a great reminder! Sending you lots of hugs and thank yous, CoCo
You are the sweetest! Thank you for stopping by!
Thank you so much for featuring my cabinet post, Jenn! You are so sweet. I love that cabinet so much, there’s so much history. Love your Friday post and CoCo’s Joy list. Have a great weekend my friend.
Thank you Kim! I hope you have a great weekend as well!
Thank you so much for sharing my emerald ash borer post! They are so destructive so if people can get ahead of the damage, it’s worth it! BTW I am a huge fan of avocado toast too! Have an amazing weekend! xo
Hi Stacy! I was so glad to share that info! Avocado toast lovers unite!
