Lavender Essential Oil
Known for its calming and soothing properties, lavender essential oil is a classic choice for candle-making. Its gentle floral scent creates a serene ambiance, making it ideal for relaxation and stress relief. Lavender-infused candles are perfect for bedrooms, bathrooms, or any space where you want to promote a sense of calm.
Lavender Blends
I love mixing lavender and jasmine, as well as lavender and sage or eucalyptus for a fresh spring candle.
My husband and I went away for the weekend a few months ago. We stopped in a little shop that had handmade candles. One fragrance they had was Lavender and Juniper Wood, it smelled absolutely amazing!
Eucalyptus Essential Oil
If you’re aiming for a refreshing and invigorating scent, eucalyptus essential oil is an excellent choice. With its crisp, clean aroma, eucalyptus can elevate the atmosphere and promote a feeling of cleanliness. Consider using eucalyptus-infused candles in your home office or study area for increased focus and mental clarity.
Eucalyptus is also great for burning in the wintertime when colds are running rampant.
Eucalyptus Blends
I love eucalyptus blended with lavender, lemongrass, or orange. Rosemary and eucalyptus also make a beautifully fragrant blend.
Citrus Essential Oils (Lemon, Orange, Grapefruit)
Citrus essential oils bring a burst of energy and brightness to any space. Lemon, orange, and grapefruit essential oils are known for their uplifting and invigorating properties. These oils are perfect for creating candles that add a touch of sunshine to kitchens, living rooms, or any area where you want to enhance positivity.
Citrus Blends
I like blending citrus with a woody fragrance like cedarwood. Bergamot also blends nicely with citrus.
Peppermint Essential Oil
For a cool and refreshing aroma, peppermint essential oil is an excellent choice. Peppermint-infused candles can create a revitalizing environment, making them ideal for use in bathrooms or as part of your morning routine. The invigorating scent of peppermint is also known to help alleviate headaches and promote mental alertness. My son always reaches for peppermint if he has a headache coming on, it really does work!
minty blends
Peppermint blends well with well with so many oils. Bergamot, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Juniper Berry.
Cedarwood Essential Oil
If you prefer earthy and grounding scents, cedarwood essential oil is a wonderful option. Its warm and woody aroma adds a sense of coziness to any space. Cedarwood-infused candles are perfect for creating a comforting atmosphere in bedrooms or living rooms, especially during colder seasons.
I find cedarwood to have more of a masculine scent but it is warm and inviting for your home.
Cedarwood Blends
Cedarwood blends well with pine, frankincense, cypress, cinnamon, and patchouli. It’s also fun to mix cedarwood with a bright citrus fragrance like orange.
Vanilla Essential Oil
Vanilla essential oil brings a sweet and comforting fragrance to your candles. With its warm and familiar scent, vanilla is a popular choice for creating cozy and inviting environments. Vanilla-infused candles are perfect for bedrooms, living rooms, or any space where you want to evoke a sense of comfort and warmth.
Vanilla Blends
Vanilla pairs well with citrus like grapefruit and orange, but also blends well with spicy scents like cinnamon or clove.

Tips for Blending Essential Oils:
Experiment with different combinations to create unique and personalized scents. Consider blending floral, citrus, and woody notes for a well-rounded aroma.
Be mindful of the intensity of each essential oil – a little goes a long way. I use about .5 oz of oil per 8 oz candle.
Choose high-quality essential oils to ensure a clean and pure fragrance in your candles.
Happy Candle-Making my friends!
